Daniel Lawrence
is a TSR Holmes / Creative Publications (CP) dice expert Here are Daniel's observations as to the two sets ... It requires some skill to tell the difference between the two sets The Creative d4 is darker and typically larger than Holmes (though a mint holmes is the same size). The Creative d6 is clearly identified by being pink The Creative d8 is kind of chalky and lighter The Creative d12 is lighter in color and chalky as well, and a bit asymmetric The Creative d20 is sometimes ivory and has a concave divot in the middle of the 0 where the 0 is below the 5 and the 1 is to the LEFT of the 5 generally, indicia are deeper on Creative's, athough early Holmes (before the mold became worn) were deep indicia The Creative 3's seemed to wear first (or more noticeably) It is common to see the straightness of the edges of the 4 degrade rapidly in Holmes ... whereas Creative's are straight (as are early Holmes 4s) |
